How to Treat a Cough from a Cold or the Flu


In Winters everyone have such diseases like Cough, Flu, and Cold.You have to be conscious about your health and try to avoid those things that are not suitable for you in this season.
Cough playing a role in clearing irritants and infection from the body, but persistent coughing can be annoying. There are many possible causes of coughs, including allergies, infections, and acid reflux.
You don,t need medical care for the average cough or sore throat.
 You often just need to give your body time to recover. Most are caused by viruses, which antibiotics can't treat. you can relieve the cough and sore throat that sometimes come with them.

. Use cough drops or hard candy


Menthol and certain herbal cough drops can slightly numb and soothe your sore throat. But sucking on plain hard candy may work just as well.

.Try a teaspoon of honey


This traditional remedy for sore throat may help soothe coughs, too. try adding a spoonful to your tea, but don't give honey to kids under 1 year old.

.drink and heat up that drink


When your throat doesn't hurt you, may not cough. Try to moist your throat by drinking up heated drinks like chicken soup, warm tea, warm water. But avoid some drinks like alcohol or caffeinated drinks and orange juice.

.Use cough medicine & breath in steam


Sometimes you need to cough to get out nasty mucus. But other time you need to calm your cough, like when you want to sleep.
Cough medicine can help you to cure cough but use the good kind of medicine. You also cure cough by breathing in steam. If a raw, dry throat is making you cough, moisture may help. Try to breathing in steam from a hot shower. Or use a humidifier or vaporizer in your room while you sleep. the steam can keep your nose and throat from being too dry and get rid of that back of the throat tickle.

. Avoid dirty air


Dirty air can really irritate your cough. Don't smoke, and stay away from other who are smoking. You know smoke isn't good for you , but it's especially bad when you're sick.Also avoid contact with people who are sick and maintain a safe distance from people who have a head cold, flu or a cough.
Washing your hands regularly with good soap and warm water to remove bacteria and viruses from the skin. Also using disinfectant when a family member is ill, clean the kitchen and bathroom regularly with a disinfectant. Was bedding, towels, and soft toys on a hot water.Staying hydrated by using drinks like enough water, herbal teas to avoid dehydration.

. Garlic & Honey


Research has found that garlic can be an effective treatment against many forms of bacteria. Cultures across the world have long recognized garlic for its preventive and curative powers.Garlic has even been considered for use against multi drug resistant tuberculosis.
Since the time of Aristotle, honey has been used as an ointment that helps chronic wounds, burns, ulcers, bedsores, and skin graft. The antibacterial effects of honey are usually attributed to its hydrogen peroxide content. However, manuka honey fights off bacteria , though it has a lower hydrogen peroxide content.

. Ginger & Echinacea


The scientific community also recognizes ginger as a natural antibiotic. Researchers are also exploring ginger's power to combat seasickness and nausea and to lower blood sugar.

Native American and other traditional healers have used echinacea for hundreds of years to treat infections and wounds.Echinacea can kill many different kinds of bacteria Streptococcus pyogenes (S.pyogenes) , that is responsible for strep throat, toxic shock syndrome, and the "flesh eating disease" known as necrotizing fasciitis.

.Gargle with salt water


Does this traditional remedy really works? Studies haven't shown that it does, but lots of people swear by it. Mix a teaspoon of salt in 8 ounces of warm water and gargle. Do it several time a day.

. Bromelain


Bromelain is an enzyme that comes from pineapples. It is most plentiful in the core of the fruit. Bromelain has anti-inflammatory properties and may also have mucolytic properties, which means that it can break down mucus and remove it from the body.
Some people drink pineapple juice daily to reduce mucus in the throat and suppress coughing. However, there may not be enough bromelain in the juice to relieve symptoms.
Bromelain supplements are available and may be more effective at relieving a cough.

.Marshmallow root


Marshmallow root is an herb that has a long history of use as a treatment for coughs and sore throat. The herb can ease irritation resulting from coughing because of its high mucilage content. Mucilage is a thick, gluey substance that coats the throat. 
One small study revealed that an herbal cough syrup containing marshmallow root, along with thyme and ivy, effectively relieved coughs resulting from common colds and respiratory tract infections. After 12 days of taking the syrup, 90 % of the participant rated its effectiveness as good or very good.

.Thyme


Thyme has both culinary and medical uses and is a common remedy for a cough, a sore throat, bronchitis, and digestive issues.
One study found that a cough syrup consisting of thyme and ivy leaves relieved coughing more effectively and more rapidly than a placebo syrup in people with acute bronchitis. Antioxidants in the plant may be responsible for its benefits.

.Goldenseal


Goldenseal is usually consumed in tea or capsules to treat respiratory and digestive problems. However, it may also combat bacterial diarrhea and urinary tract infections.
